NFL-WR

Leonte Carroo was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 86th overall, after the Dolphins traded a third-and fourth-round pick with the Minnesota Vikings in the 2017 NFL Draft to select him. RSR Sports Management negotiated a four-year contract for Leonte, worth $3.16 million and included a $700,000 signing bonus. The signing of his NFL contract marked the apex of a plan that started with RSR and Leonte after his successful college career at Rutgers University concluded.

RSR tailored a pre-draft plan for Leonte that worked perfectly and facilitated Leonte’s training at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Here he learned from top strength and conditioning trainers in the country to prepare for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Leonte worked individually with Henry Ellard, a long-time NFL receiver coach as well as 17-year NFL receiver. His IMG training included preparing for his personal team interviews with Charlie Casserly, a former NFL general manager of the Washington Redskins and the Houston Texans. At the NFL Combine, Leonte displayed a tremendous performance for NFL scouts, both on and off the field. Then RSR coordinated Leonte’s participation in the Reese’s Senior Bowl All-Star game, the premier draft prospect All-Star Game. Leonte worked with Tim Carly of TCPG, a public relations firm, to schedule his appearances on the NFL Network, Sirius XM NFL Radio and ESPN Radio, as well as numerous print media placements. RSR procured Leonte’s inclusion at the 2016 NFLPA Rookie Premier event in Los Angeles, Calif., where he was among other top rookies meeting corporate decision-makers. RSR secured multi-year marketing deals for Leonte with Panini trading cards and adidas. All of these facets of preparation and planning were quarterbacked by RSR to culminate in his third round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Prior to this, Leonte played four years at Rutgers, where he excelled as a wide receiver. In his first year as a Scarlet Knight, Leonte was one of three freshmen to see playing time in the opening win against Tulane. As a starter, he recorded his first career tackle and blocked punt and finished with 55 catches for 1,086 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 19.7 yards per catch, putting him in the top of every receiving category in the Big Ten. Leonte earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors, and he became the sixth player in Rutgers history to exceed the 1,000-yard receiving mark. During his senior year, he was awarded Most Valuable Player and offensive MVP. A team leader in receptions and touchdowns, he finished his collegiate career as the Rutgers leader in touchdown receptions with 29 and posted 122 receptions for 2,737 yards total.

Leonte Carroo 2016 NFL Draft Highlights from Rob Roche on Vimeo.

"Signing with Rob was the easiest decision of my life. Me being a high profile athlete I had a lot of agents hitting me up, but Rob was the only guy that never talked to me to sell me false dreams. He always talked to me and asked how my family was doing or how life is going. Since signing with Rob I've seen how passionate and serious he takes his job. Showing me nothing but hard work and dedication but at the same time still the man that continues to ask how my day is going. It's always family first."
