Alex Cohen is entering his fifth season as play-by-play broadcaster for the Iowa Cubs, Triple-A Affiliate for the Chicago Cubs. His games can be found on AM 940 in Des Moines, with select games on Marquee Sports Network. He also broadcasts select Chicago Cubs Spring Training games in Arizona.
In addition to his MiLB experience, Cohen has called games around the world. He has been part of the broadcast team for the World Baseball and Softball Confederation since 2015, calling two Premier 12 tournaments and the 2018 U-23 tournament in Taiwan, Japan, and Colombia. He also broadcasted a season with the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League and has served as a US Correspondent for the top sports radio station in Australia, 1116 SEN, since 2014.
In all, the 33-year-old has worked in baseball since 2009, broadcasting more than 1,500 baseball games at the affiliated and international levels.
Along with his baseball duties, Cohen fills in as a sports talk and podcast host with 1460 KXNO in Des Moines. He also freelances in collegiate athletics, broadcasting football, basketball, softball and gymnastics for Iowa State University and Drake University with fill-in roles for various Division 1 schools on ESPN+, Big Ten Network+ and Learfield/IMG.
Off-air, Cohen is an Account Executive for the I-Cubs, managing corporate sales accounts while serving as an organizational spokesperson. He also handles team travel during the season. From the Philadelphia area originally, Alex currently lives in Des Moines, IA with his fiance Tessa and his dog Jax.
Cohen graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a B.A. in Journalism.
